It is wise to allocate a full day, even for smaller boats. Generally, it is difficult to specify exactly how long a (partial) inspection will take. What is certain is that it must be done thoroughly. The time required is primarily a factor of the boat’s condition rather than its size or age. We inspect all components that can be tested or clearly indicate those that cannot.
If you have an inspection carried out, you will receive an inspection report detailing the overall condition of the ship. This way, you will immediately know if the ship meets your expectations. Your INS surveyor ensures that you buy a yacht without any surprises. You can be confident in what you are purchasing.

These certifications guarantee the necessary expertise and quality for the client. Always check if the surveyor you wish to hire has the required knowledge and experience. The inspections and costs depend on the type of ship and its condition. Therefore, it is impossible to provide a fixed price list. You can contact us for a no-obligation discussion about the costs. Generally, prices are based on length for boats up to 15 meters, with categories being up to 7 meters, between 7 and 10 meters, between 10 and 12.5 meters, and between 12.5 and 15 meters. For boats larger than 15 meters, we are happy to provide a specific quote.
Because INS is affiliated with and certified by HISWA (INS Netherlands), VRT, and EMCI, and also holds accreditation from the Commercial Court of Antwerp, the reports will be accepted by both domestic and international insurance companies.
It is a great opportunity to experience how the boat performs. You can determine if the boat suits you as a captain and if the engine and overall performance meet your expectations. It is also the perfect moment to test the steering, control elements, and other systems.
It is recommended for most inspections that the ship be out of the water. However, this depends on the type of inspection. Please contact us for more information.
For a purchase inspection, we strongly recommend it. For other inspections, it is less necessary. Yacht Surveyor FAQ
